NIO reported its results for the first quarter and posted a loss per share of 36 cents on revenues of $1.6 billion. Analysts expected a loss per share of 39 cents on revenues of $1.7 billion. About a year ago the company reported a loss per share of 12 cents on revenues of $1.5 billion.
The company's forecast for the second quarter is for revenues of between 8.71 and 9.37 billion yuan, the expected delivery for the second quarter is between 23 thousand and 25 thousand vehicles. In June, the company expects to deliver between 10,000 and 12,000 vehicles, an increase of 6,155 vehicles from the delivery in May.
"With the increase in our new blood including the new ES6, our teams are well positioned for robust growth in vehicle deliveries," said NIO CEO William Bean Lee.
"In view of the changing market environment, we will observe and analyze the environment in which we operate and our competition and continue to strengthen our competitive advantages in an agile and efficient manner," said Steven Feng, NIO's Chief Financial Officer.
"In the meantime, we will continue to focus on execution, optimize the cost structure and further improve operational efficiency." NIO is traded at a value of 13.5 billion dollars, this after the company's stock fell 14% since the beginning of the year and 59% in the last year as a whole.
