NVIDIA, the first chip company to reach a trillion dollar valuation on Wall Street amid the AI frenzy, will continue its rise, even though its stock has already soared 163% since the beginning of the year.
Bank of America still covers Nvidia shares with a "buy" recommendation at the top of its list, and expects another 29% increase from its current price of $374 to $500 within a year.
The bank calls Nvidia the "leader of the AI gold rush", as the pioneering chip company that enables the AI-based chatbot. After an investor meeting with Nvidia's CFO who also serves as the company's vice president, Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya concluded that demand for the company's chips, such as its H100 chip, appears to be stable.
Two weeks ago it reported quarterly revenues that exceeded forecasts. Also, the company published particularly optimistic forecasts for the future, including a forecast for sales of 11 billion dollars in the second quarter of 2023, while analysts estimate that sales will amount to half of that - 7.15 billion dollars.
The surge in the stock even caused heavy losses this year for the holders of short positions: the shorts recorded a loss of 8.6 billion dollars so far this year. Nvidia added $640 billion to its value this year.
